Gold and Bronze for Nottingham Rowing Club at the English Indoor Rowing Championships

The English Indoor Rowing Championships, organised by Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club, took place at the Manchester Velodrome on January 31st. The event was raced on Concept 2 Indoor rowing machines over 2,000m and 500m for individuals and 3,000m for teams of four.

Nottingham Rowing Club brought home a gold and a bronze medal from the races. Club vice-president Tony Lorrimer won the gold in the 70+ lightweight class and his time makes him one of the fastest in the country in his age group over 2,000m. The girls' U16 team of Bella Barlow (Nottingham High School for Girls), Jenna Draycott (Kesteven & Grantham Girls School), Abi Clark (East Leake Academy) and Aimee Richards (Carlton Academy) raced twelve other teams and won bronze. Earlier Jenna had rowed a 2,000m piece in a personal best of 7m 45secs. Andy Townsend,a medallist at the British Championships in London last December was 4th in a tough 50+ heavyweight group.
