Burton Regatta, run by local clubs Trent Rowing Club and Burton Leander Rowing Club, took place on July 11th and 12th on an 1100m downstream stretch of the River Trent. The regatta was founded in 1865 and remains one of the best traditional side by  side river regattas in the country, set as it is in unspoilt rolling meadows.

Nottingham Rowing Club were well represented and returned with five trophies.

Vicky Jones and Becca Gill beat a clubmate crew to win Women's Intermediate 3 Double Sculls. Victoria Straw and Harriet Ferguson beat Boston Rowing Club by 4 lengths to win WJ17 Double Sculls. Abi Clark and Bella Barlow won WJ15 Double Sculls, beating North Staffs Rowing Club in the final. Abi and Bella are due to race in Scotland in the National Junior Championships on July 17th.

In single sculls Martha Griffin, in her first novice final, beat the local favourite from Trent Rowing Club by one length and lost her novice status. The final of WJ16 was a battle royal between clubmates Rachel Heap and Priya Jenkins with Priya getting home by a foot!
