Anna Thornton from the Becket School and Kyra Edwards a George Spencer School pupil ,first of this year's rowing internationals from Nottingham, won silver and bronze respectively at the Munich Junior International Regatta over the week-end.

On the Saturday Kyra, rowing with Ros Wilson, won bronze in the Junior Women's Double Sculls.

On Sunday Anna, a club High Performance athlete coached by Dez Atkins, and Kyra, a 'Start' sculler coached by Nicola Benevente were in the Quadruple Scull that took silver against German and Czech opposition.

GB Team manager John Layng said: "The event is an ideal testing regatta for us. It gives our rowers some great experience and the opportunity to race with other World Championship medal hopeful crews."

Racing was delayed by 90 mins on Saturday to allow thunderstorms to pass through.

Both Nottingham girls are hoping for places in the GB Team due to try out the Rio course later in the year.
