Tideway rowing weekend for Nottingham

On a wet and windy early spring week-end there were two major races over the Boat Race stretch of the Thames a week before Oxford and Cambridge meet to settle scores once again.

On Saturday 200 Masters/Veteran eights competed in the Vesta Veteran Eights. Nottingham Rowing Club were involved in three crews. First home was a combined crew which finished 9th.The Masters D crew came 50th just behind York City and Bridgnorth confirming the Masters of Trentside results.A combined Nottingham/Bedford Masters G crew came 170th and were second in their class behind an American crew.

Sunday saw 345 eights take to the water.The winning crew was Leander Rowing Club.Nottingham Rowing Club 1 started 62nd and finished 47th  but lost the Jackson Trophy for Provincial crews to Agecroft Rowing Club.Nottingham Rowing Club 2 started 253rd and finished 143rd.

Club focus now turns to Easter Training Camps.The High Performance Women are off to France with coach Dez Atkins.Coaches Martin Kay and Declan Gamble are taking the Juniors to Gent in Belgium.Club Captain Helen Bloor is running a camp in Peterborough and the men will be at the National Watersports Centre with Olympian Lenny Robertson.
