News from NRC

First off a massive thanks for everyone that helped make our open day a great success - we had dozens of people turn up and have a go and have already recruited not only beginners but also a number of improvers.  This wouldn't have been possible without the support of members who volunteered on the day.

Just a quick update and some dates for your diaries:

Sunday 18th September from 10am - the Big Clean Up - and we need your help

In order to get organised in advance of the Autumn season and to get ahead of the game we are having a big sort out on the 18th September and we need as many volunteers as possible to help out.  In addition to having a good tidy up we'll be checking all of the equipment - find out what needs repairing/replacing/throwing out or just a bit of TLC.   And to encourage you to come along we'll be arranging for some refreshments to keep the workers going.  And just think wouldn't it be nice to start the season with everything spick and span and ready to go.

30th October - Autumn Head

Our first major event in the rowing calendar is just over 6 weeks away - so make a note in your diaries.  We normally get a great turn out from athletes racing at the Head but are also looking for volunteers on the day to help with marshalling, timing and refreshments. We'd really appreciate your support as the event helps raise money which goes back into the club.

19th November - The Oscars

As you may have heard, or seen the posters around the club, the Oscars will be returning to Nottingham Rowing Club on 19th November 2016.  For those who have attended previous Oscar evenings I am sure that you will agree they are entertaining evenings.

This year there will be even more entertainment with a live auction.

The event will take place in the Boat Club this year and numbers are limited so if you want to secure your ticket please book early.  There will be a 3 course meal. the presentation of our serious rowing awards followed by the Oscar awards.  Then we can decamp to the Brit where we will continue to party and dance the night away with a few drinks of course!

Tickets are already selling well and there is always a great demand for tickets and so I would advise you to get your ticket early to avoid disappointment. It will NOT be possible to pay on the night, so please let Helen Bloor have your names, payment and any dietary requirements asap. You can pay by bank transfer, or you can pay by cheque, payable to 'Nottingham Rowing Club', or pay by cash.

The cost this year is £35 per ticket - contact the club for details if you want to pay by bank transfer.

And finally...the return of the Captain's (B)Log

Want to have an idea what's happening at the club then check out the Captain's Log on our website. It will be a chance to hear about our successes, our challenges and whats happening at the club.
