On Saturday 14th November the Nottingham Rowing Club training centre, situated between the Forest City Ground and Lady Bay Bridge, was transformed into a plush nightclub by a team of volunteers led by retiring club captain Helen Bloor, ready for a meal and presentation of club 'Oscars'.

The 'Oscars' are an annual event recognising the performance of club members in the previous season, which mixes the presentation of serious club awards with some more lighthearted trophies.

'Senior Man' was John Okon after a fine season of club rowing. 'Senior Woman' was Laura Wheeler who won Elite Single Sculls at Henley Women's Regatta. 'One to Watch 'was Josh Tolley. James Mawby won 'Junior Man' and Rachel Heap 'Junior Woman'. The winner of the Veterans' Award was Steve Hill. The year's crew award went to the Henley Royal Regatta Fawley Challenge Cup Quadruple Scull of Jack Smith (Toot Hill School, Bingham), James Mawby (Nottingham City Academy), Rowan Law (West Bridgford School) and Harvey Kay (Rushcliffe School). Declan Gamble was 'Coach of the Year'. The 'Captains Cup 'was awarded to Grace Clough who for the second year was World Paralympic Champion in the mixed LTA Coxed four.

After a frantic clean up, the Training Centre is now back in action as winter training continues apace.
