Sculling over a now very familiar 5,000m course on the River Witham at Boston, Anna Thornton (Becket School), Nottingham Rowing Club's crack junior athlete coached by Dez Atkins, dominated the trials on both days. On Saturday she led the field of 48 by 12 seconds and completed the race in about 20 minutes. On Sunday she pulled out all the stops and put over 30 seconds gap between her and the rest of the scullers. Kyra Edwards (George Spencer School), coached by Nicola Benevente, was also well in the mix and came 5th on Saturday and 4th on Sunday.

Coach Declan Gamble took three J16 Girls to the trials and came away with very encouraging results. On Saturday in a field of 46 Lucy Holgate was 5th, Hannah Stocks 6th and Rachel Heap 40th. On Sundayracing in Double Sculls Hannah Stocks and Rachel Heap were 6th and Lucy Holgate and Ruby Bailey from Trentham Rowing Club 17th.

As a result of these excellent results, Lucy, Hannah and coach Declan Gamble have been invited to a British Rowing J16 Sculling Camp at the National Watersports Centre at Holme Pierrepont in April.
