Rushcliffe Sports Awards 2014: Nottingham Rowing Club short-listed for six awards

After a welcome from keen sportsman Councillor John Cottee, the award evening,on the 26th November, held at the Becket School got away to a brisk, good humoured start led by compere Andrew James.

Nottingham Rowing Club were short listed for six awards and all nominees received certificates from Rushcliffe Borough Council.

James Mawby and Faisan Shah were up for Junior Team of the Year, the Nottingham Rowing Club Women for Amateur Team of the Year, Ashley Hewitt for Community Coach of the Year and Dez Atkins for Performance Coach of the Year.

James was awarded the Trophy after he and Faisan won at National Schools and the Anglo-French.

Later in the evening both Anna Thornton and Rowan Law were nominated for Junior Sportsperson of the Year in a category won by artistic gymnast Ellie Downie. Grace Clough was chosen as Disabled Sportsperson of the Year following her unbeaten season.Her trophy was collected by Dez Atkins. Grace had won the same category at the Nottingham City Sports Awards last week.

Keith Atkinson ,President of Nottingham Rowing Club said "We value our partnership with Rushcliffe Borough Council and were delighted to showcase the Rowing Club at the Sports Awards Evening.Over half of our club members live in the Borough,a great place to live,work and play."
