The Head of the Soar was held by Loughborough Boat Club on Saturday 22nd November. Rowed in three separate divisions, it was held on a 3000 m upstream stretch of the River Soar from Kegworth to Zouch in Leicestershire, finishing up from the club. It  was a mild day with a slight headwind and recent rain had swollen the stream somewhat.

Fresh from being declared Nottingham City Team of the Year 2014, Nottingham Rowing Club Women coached by new Captain Helen Bloor won three events. In addition, there was one win from the men's masters' section for a total of four Nottingham RC wins.

Suze Wynn, Belinda Tory, Lauren Gardener and Sorcha Liston-Smith coxed by Jo Dodgson won Women's Intermediate 2 Coxed Fours ahead of De Montfort University. Brodie Holmes, Sophie Thean, Belinda Tory and Hannah Wright won Women's Intermediate 3 Quadruple Sculls, beating Leicester Rowing Club. Ruth Hyde, Sarah Royles, Jill Titterton and Ellie Welham, coxed by Ellie Townsend, won Masters D/E Coxed Fours for the over 50s, beating Loughborough Boat Club and Bewdley Rowing Club.

The Men's Masters D Coxed Four of Paul Williamson, Iain Hill, Andy Townsend and Chris Beesley, coxed by Carole Dickinson beat Bewdley Rowing Club to finish 10th overall in a respectable time, beating many younger crews. 

These wins bring the total won by Nottingham Rowing Club,Nottingham City's Amateur Club of 2014, to 19.The Club record is 65 set last March.
