Helen Bloor has been elected as the first Women Captain of Nottingham Rowing Club, and as an outstanding oarswoman and coach she is ideally placed to guide the club forward following eight very successful years since the foundation in 2006 - culminating in 1,000 trophies won since the club's inception in 2006.

Helen began rowing in 1980 and she represented Team GB as a junior until 1984. Wins at local and national regattas soon followed and in 1993 she was in the first Nottingham Boat Club to win at Women's Henley. Her favourite boat is the coxless pair and in 2013 in Varese in Northern Italy she became Masters World Champion rowing with Pauline Bird.

As a coach Helen has an equally impressive track record with crew wins at Women's Henley, the National Championships and Masters events at home and abroad. In 2014 not only did she win 3 golds at the Masters Championships but her squad helped the Club win the 'Victor Ludorum' with its haul of medals. It then went on to the Club Eights final at Women's Henley and win at Henley Masters.

Helen involves herself in all aspects of club life and is currently organising the annual 'Club Oscars' evening, before setting a path for 2015.
