19 year old Loughborough University Student Katie Bartlett, formerly a pupil at Trinity School Aspley and member of Nottingham Rowing Club, has been selected for the GB U23 rowing team for the World Championships in Linz, Austria from the 22nd-29th July.

She has just finished several weeks of trials at British Rowing's headquarters at Caversham near Reading. This follows a winter of long distance rows and indoor rowing machine tests. Katie's great strength is that she is not only an excellent sculler but she rows in sweep-oared boats and can change sides. She recently stroked the winning Senior Eight at Women's Henley.

At the ages of 14 and 15 Katie represented GB against France, progressing to selection for the 'Coupe de la Jeunesse' and at 17 and 18 the Junior World Championships. Selection for the U23s makes it the sixth consecutive year that Katie has worn GB strip.

Katie is based at the National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepont and is a member of GB Rowing's Start Programme. Katie is coached by Julie Edwards and Lauren Fisher.

Katie is able to pursue her dream of international selection because of the generous support of Nottingham sponsors: Insideland, Nest Property Rentals, 12 Property Rentals and Splatt T-shirts all underpin her daily training sessions, training camps, equipment and transport costs. Clearly her success has delighted these sponsors. Without their backing the dream would be over.
