The 2013 GB versus France J16 Match takes place in London’s Docklands on Sunday 14th July, pitting some of the nation’s top juniors against the best from France. It provides a fantastic opportunity for young British rowers to get a taste of international competition.

Trials were held at the National Watersports Centre at Holme Pierrepont on June 30th, and four athletes from Nottingham Rowing Club gained selection to Team GB.

Coached by Club Junior Coordinator Claire Parnell, Rowan Law from West Bridgford School and Anna Thornton from Fernwood School were selected as single scullers. Olivia Kay from Rushcliffe Scool, who is sponsored by Tracsis, and Kyra Edwards from The George Spencer School are to row in a double scull; the girls are coached by Lauren Fisher from the British Rowing Team.

Said Club President Keith Atkinson: "Four Internationals - and the season is only just underway, and they are all from local Comprehensive Schools. Rushcliffe School staff must be particularly pleased as the only ‘Watersports Hub School’ in the County and they have an international rower already."
