Four junior members of Nottingham Rowing Club are due to don Team GB kit and head for international competition in Europe.

Olivia Kay (Rushcliffe School, West Bridgford) is to single scull in the Anglo-French match in Gravelines in northern France. Rowan Law from West Bridgford School is spare man for the team. They will be accompanied by their coach Claire Parnell.

Mary Wilson (Nottingham Girls' High School) is off to Banyoles near Barcelona to compete in the Coupe de la Jeunesse, where she has been selected to scull in the quadruple scull.

Katie Bartlett (Trinity School, Aspley) and the Club’s top Junior Sculler, goes to Plovdiv in Bulgaria and will scull in the GB quadruple scull in the Junior World Championships in August. Katie is coached by World Class Start coach Julie Edwards and is sponsored by local property developers 'Insideland' who also supported the Nottingham Rowing Club junior quad at the inaugural event at Henley Royal Regatta. Katie is currently recovering from a minor illness.

Selection resulted from extensive trials and seat-racing at the National Watersports Centre at Holme Pierrepont both in single, double and quadruple boats. Some of the trials were carried out in the recent pouring rain, testing both the athletes physical and mental strengths.

Following their outstanding season the Nottingham Rowing Club U19 group hope to feature in the Evening Post Team of the year award.
