Nottingham Rowing Club men and women came through the qualifying stages of Henley Royal Regatta unscathed and raised morale at the club as seven crews made it through to the main event, making a record total of 30 club members rowing on the Thames this week.

Club Captain Andy Brown reports ‘It was very blustery with a strong headwind. Pippa Whittaker was one of four qualifiers from 15 single scullers. The two men’s coxless fours in the Wyfold qualifiers came through in good style; the B crew overtook the crew ahead of them. The women’s quad stroked by Lindsay Marshall was one of only two qualifiers and looked solid and smooth as they eased through the enclosures.

‘The crews that qualified, together with the men’s eight in the Thames Cup, the Wyfold A crew and the Junior Girls' quad stroked by Mary Wilson brings the total to seven - a record for the club‘, he continued. ’It’s probably more than any other club in the regatta. The most impressive thing is the spread across diverse events from women’s single sculls to men’s eights. This is a great result for Nottingham Rowing Club and I send congratulations to all involved,’he concluded.
