Stratford Regatta is rowed over a 750m course upstream on the River Avon and crews pass the world famous theatre as they race.

This weekend the Masters F (for 60 year olds) crew of Paul Johns, Derek Crowley, Tony Lorrimer and Steve Cuthbert coxed by Carole Dickinson met a younger Ross Rowing Club in the final and raced them without the customary handicap given to older competitors.

Carole reports that the weather was awful, with torrential storms causing waterlogging in the regatta enclosure. Although the crew boated in sunshine the rain set in again on the start. Carole continues: 'We got a length up after 30 strokes and despite moving into a strong stream we just kept moving away. It turned out to be a comfortable win but in very challenging conditions.'
